I can assure you I am not the first to say this, but I am SO over winter. Like seriously it is now the third day of March and the weather people are predicting that the worst of the winter weather for Toronto is still to come. Alas any sense of survival or hope for warmer temps certainly will not be originating from the outdoors, and as such I must find solace elsewhere. And boy oh boy have I found it in Current Elliot's launch of their new line The Great. If there was any brand to attribute the words "effortless ethereal summer beauty" it would by far be Current Elliot. Their namesake line has always been a guilty pleasure of mine and as if I needed one more reason to drool over their existence, they gave me (and the rest of the fashion world) The Great. I mean can I get a THANK YOU!
The quintessential Americana vibe attributed to summer in the States is perfectly embodied with this line. From the incredible balance of vintage and classic influences with more modern casual details, Emily and Meritt have created the perfect wardrobe for any self identifying modern flower patch frolicker. If I wasn't dreaming of dancing in fields and braiding flowers in my hair over the summer break before, I sure am now (but in all honestly I was totally already dreaming of that ;)).
On top of the unbelievable whimsy that these clothes embodies can we just take a moment to discuss the beauty look for this season. It has been discussed time and time again that the "no make-up make-up" look is all the rage ATM considering it was essentially the go to canvas for the majority of designers at New York, London and Milan Fashion Weeks. Hair that looks like its been slept in and yet could show up to a glamorous red carpet party, to soft imperfection free complexions, rosy cheeks and sparkling eyelids that catch the rays of the sun and peachy pink pouts. I have always been a huge proponent of a minimal makeup look for two reasons.
1. I don't have time to don a full blown multidimensional smokey eye when I have 9 and 10 am classes,
2. I personally prefer makeup to be used to enhance ones natural beauty and not to advertise one's eligibility to run away with the circus....
But hey that's just me. So as you can probably guess I was jumping around like a school girl during NYFW at the amazing designer push for a natural and effortless makeup look. And now because of CE I am essentially doing cartwheels in my living room. (For those of you who know me, that's saying something.... :P)
So without further adieu, here is The Great....and boy is it ever great.
