Casually Dying

I must confess, I have loved Acne for a very long time. (and no I am not talking about the atrocious skin villain that decides to rear its ugly head every time you eat something remotely indulgent or are stressing to your max). I am talking about ACNE, the fashion house, the eponymous label known for its edgy cool girl (or guy) aesthetic, clean lines and drool worthy interpretations of any seasons hottest trends. I have also loved biker jackets for a very long time and have made 2015 the year that I expand my collection. Starting with this one. Ok maybe not. Given the steep price of this jacket at $1,750 this is probably one of those gifts I buy to myself after working my ass off all summer long at a corporate internship that pays me to travel. (here's hoping!)

This jacket, is probably the most heavenly garment I have seen in a very long time, and I decided just here and now as I discovered it via Twitter (head on over and follow me if you wanna know what else I obsess about on a daily (err hourly) basis) drinking my lemon, peppermint and honey tea (yes I am getting sick, and no I am not okay with it). So feast your eyes below, because this zippered, pocketed, lined 100% cow leather jacket, is THE garment of my spring/summer/fall wardrobe for the year to come and I am making it my New Year's Resolution to obtain it.

If anyone wants to contribute to making my dream come true, I am totally ok with accepting financial donations. ;) JK (but am I really?)

57th Annual Grammy Best Looks Roundup

Given the prominence of social media today, there really is no time to pause and reflect. Tweets, blog posts and Instagram's were flying last night, mere seconds and minutes after anything remotely exciting happened during the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. I know this because I was one of the ones reading all those tweets and blog posts as I attempted to do homework. I have two words for you: BAD. IDEA. But none the less I got my work done and was still able to know everything that anyone who was actually watching the awards would know. Which got me thinking. Have we really become those people who don't even need to know what happened in order to know what happened? We can find summaries and synopsis and hysterical responses to TV shows, movies, books and award shows without even watching the even first hand.

I knew that Kristen Wiig emerged on stage as Sia and I wasn't even watching it on a TV! I knew Kanye attempted to pull another Kanye when Beck won Best Album over Queen B. (tear...but also....thank god right? It's time a littler guy got noticed). And I think I probably read thirty different hysteric reiterations of Sam Smith's acceptance speech where he "thanked his ex for breaking his heart and creating four Grammy winning hits". All without pressing a button on my TV remote. I was both fascinated and appalled that I could get instant updates and play by plays of one of the biggest nights in music without even watching it unfold with my own eyes. It certainly got me thinking. But anyways, now on to the fun stuff.

Everyone knows that an award show is never JUST an award show. It's a fashion show! The only reason we tune in to these things other than the music and live performances is for the clothes! And so I thought it only natural to provide this Internet world with another compilation of what I considered to be the best looks of the night.

So feast, your eyes....cuz to be honest, I was thoroughly impressed with what I saw. (And no I am NOT looking at you RiRi)

Hope you all had a fantastic Monday. Chat soon!

Naomi

Zara S/S 2015: The Stuff Dreams are Made of...

First I would like to apologize. I feel like every time I make a post on here I am beginning with an apology, so why mess with a good thing right? I would just like to say that I cannot express enough ho difficult it is to find time to blog nowadays with all the commotion of the new semester, and now I am getting ready to head into midterms. But despite the craziness of school I have also been trying to just live my life and take advantage of every moment and every adventure that comes my way, and at times this pulls me away from my technology. Which I can honestly say is not a completely bad thing. If you follow me on Instagram (and if you aren't you should totally hop over there right after you finish reading this ;)) you will know just what I have been up to. Unfortunately it requires a lot more time to stage an outfit photo shoot that is adequate to post on here, that it does to snap a pic and post to Instagram. So if I am ever MIA again (which to be honest is very likely) just head over there because you know I will always be active on insta. :)

Now, on to the good stuff. There has been a lot of amazing stuff happening in the fashion world lately and I am hoping to recap a bunch of the fashion moments I have been loving over the past few months that I have been "away". I am currently watching the 57th Annual Grammy's so expect a post about the looks I loved on tonights Red Carpet sometime later this week. Another reason I haven't been posting is because I have been having some difficulties with my Photoshop software so hopefully this week I will get that sorted out! But yes, one of my most favourite fashion moments as of late has been the release of Zara's Spring/Summer 2015 collection lookbook. I absolutely LOVE Zara and my life could not be as stylish as it is without them. I longingly await the release of their new campaigns and this one surely did not disappoint.

I'm loving the modernized nod to the 70's as I myself never got to live through them the first time. Although my mom on the other hand cringes every time I utter the decade or the word 'fringe'. Although I won't be dressing like a 70's hippy flower child any time soon, this is just enough hippy for me to handle.  Pristine models, dewy skin, the softest looking hair I ever did see. And then there are the clothes. A lot more refined and streamlined than my mother remembers and absolutely stunning in all their glory. I love love love the effortless chic-ness that jumps from my monitor as I scroll down their webpage. Every image, their own isolated snapshot in time, yet as a unit flow from one to the next to tell a fashion story I could crawl into for the rest of eternity. I think a few suede and denim mini skirts just might be in my near future....
